The School of Pharmacy has two Key Labs of Shanghai Municipality (Shanghai Key Lab of Chemical Biology, Shanghai Key Lab of New Drug Design) and one Engineering Research Center (Engineering Research Center of Pharmaceutical Process Chemistry, Ministry of Education). These research units aim to foster interdisciplinary research and innovations through collaborations among faculty members in the process of drug discovery and development. Research in the labs and the center cover four major areas: chemical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, pesticide, and pharmaceutical engineering.
